The annual Community Living Essex County Mayors Luncheon was held on Friday, May 12th. The event serves as an opportunity not only to celebrate Community Living Month, but to reach out to community partners including local organizations, municipalities and businesses across Essex County. This year, the theme “Celebrating Sparks,” acknowledged the positive impact that local organizations and individuals have made and continue to make on Community Living Essex County. The following Sparks were celebrated: Access County Community Support Services, Tecumseh Thunder Baseball Club, Essex County Heroes, St. Paul’s/Trinity Anglican Church in Essex, Brianne Taggart, Town of LaSalle, Ken Knapp Ford and The University of Windsor, Department of Human Kinetics.
Speaking on behalf of the many local Mayors in attendance, Essex County Warden Tom Bain, who is also the Mayor of Lakeshore, was proud to lend support to Community Living Essex County for the services and work it provides to the over 650 individuals with an intellectual disability. “Today is a day to say thank you for helping individuals reach their full potential. By our turnout, we are here to say thank you to you,” Bain said. “You are a prime example of what teamwork can do. Congratulations on the great job you do and keep up the good work.”
