Inspiring Possibilities - Goals and Priorities to guide us into the future
The Board of Directors at Community Living Essex County has developed three major goals and a number of priorities to guide our efforts for the next few years. Achievement of these goals will help us define our future.
Promote full inclusion for everyone
- Seek and develop leadership and increased decision-making opportunities with and for individuals we support and their families.
- Shift from group-based responses to individual, self-directed responses for all people.
- Pursue pro-active and creative service planning initiatives to assist with achieving personal outcomes.
- Seek opportunities for paid work for all people who want a job. That is REAL JOBS for REAL PAY.
- Provide leadership in our efforts to influence the inclusion of all children in their school and community.
- Use plain language to ensure understanding of all communication.
- Work hard to remove barriers to participation such as poverty, physical barriers, transportation, housing, dependency.
Significantly enhance our external community outreach
- Implement an annual communications plan to enhance the Association's visibility and to create a full understanding of our accomplishments and our challenges.
- Develop strategic partnerships and network opportunities particularly with groups and local politicians who can assist us with our priorities.
- Encourage community groups, individuals and families who have never been involved with community living, to become engaged in our efforts.
- Develop a Centre of Excellence to lead the way in community living amongst those who share our vision for all people.
- Actively prevent the institutionalization of services.
Undertake to build a strong foundation for the future
- Continue to build on areas of strength and improve on any areas of weakness.
- Continue with a services review specific to each program provided to ensure that the way services are delivered is appropriate for both the current and anticipated future need in our community.
- Foster achievement, excellence, creativity and innovation in all that we do.
- Further develop and implement Human Resource strategies that build a strong and exemplary staff team.
- Ensure the role of the Board of Directors is evaluated regularly.
