If the eyes are truly the mirrors of the soul than that explains why you can see so much hope through the eyes of Kyle Girardin. Hope for a new start, a new beginning became reality for Kyle after moving to a new home in LaSalle he shares with three other men.
Despite his struggle at times with diabetes, it hasn't slowed him down from actively participating in Special Olympics as a member of the LaSalle Spirit Club, where he has won numerous medals in baseball and basketball.
As a part-time employee as a cleaner at the arena that is home to the Ontario Hockey League Windsor Spitfires, Kyle is close to a sport he loves and in a job that offers him some independence. But, after securing several bursaries and attending woodworking classes at St. Clair College, Kyle hopes to one-day make a living by building things with wood. " I like to build with wood. In the future, I'd like to go back to school and become a Carpenter, but for now I'll keep fixing things around the house."
In the meantime, Kyle has built a solid foundation, working, playing and living in a community he enjoys, with hopes for an even brighter future.
